Space Channel 5.0 coming to Wii
Posted by George. Filed under Nintendo Wii. Tagged with Unreleased.
Looks like Space Channel 5 is set for a comeback. Sega will be remaking the game for the Wii. Developer they have chosen has not been announced but I hope its Q entertainment, since they are doing Rez HD. The only thing we know is the game will feature licensed Michael Jackson music.
This game coming out is not surprising, since it was first made to draw in casual female gamers. Doesn’t get more casual than the Wii, this is the perfect place for the game.
Stay tune for more info as its released
Ulala indeed!

Awesome. This game is a perfect fit for Wii. Move the controller in the direction the game tells you, just like Ulala. You could also use the pointer and the A button to shoot enemies on screen instead of it happening automatically…
I hope they do something cool with the motion sensing hear.

Maybe the pre-rendered backgrounds will look even better now. (You know, without all the pixelyness)

A remake isn’t so bad. In fact, some new flavored graphics might spark it up a little.
Let’s hope more Dreamcast classic are on the way for remakes / sequels on Wii.

SC5 is gonna be tough to ruin. At worst it would be the same thing but with lesser graphics, but its not like its a graphic intense game even by dreamcast standards

I think sonic team syndrome has him doubting Sega.

ratix240sx: I don’t know…. It could be spectacularly EASY to ruin, if they do indeed simply replace button presses with hand movements… It could prove to be utterly unresponsive, leading to much frustration, screaming and nunchuk-cable snapping.
Still. I’m going to remain cautiously optimistic, on account of my g/f who also loves Space Channel 5.

I believe the United Game Artists members that remained with Sega and got merged into Sonic Team Japan (precisely when Mizuguchi decided to split and form Q Entertainment) went on to make Feel the Magic and The Rub Rabbits. If it’s those former members working on it, it probably won’t turn out too badly.

yes but United Game Artist also did Sonic Riders 1 and 2….

Instead of bringing back Samba, Space & etc just bring back your real
unique masterpiece and give it a new life,,,yes, I’m talking about Shenmue,
however like everyone else I believe that this should be a perfect game for Wii.

I’m with Alimn. This is a nice fit for Wii but they need to get serious and bring back something like Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Arcadia or Panzer Dragoon. Hell, I’d settle for a “Panzer Collection” at this point.

I’m happy to hear about this. But, more Panzer Dragoon is the way to go!
