The Club XBL

Hot off the press, Sega Europe has just announced that of 9am (GMT) Tuesday 8th January, (that’s tomorrow!), an exclusive demo for The Club will be available, via download, across Europe and Australia, on the Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox 360.

This news comes a great relief to many Sega/Xbox 360 fans, as last month Sega Europe also released a demo for The Club, but only for the Playstation 3’s PSN.

Here’s the rest of the press release, for your viewing pleasure:

Developed by industry revered development studio, Bizarre Creations, The Clubâ„¢ mixes cutting edge high definition visuals with hyper-addictive score based challenges to deliver the most intriguing and innovative shooter of early 2008.

The demo features:

- The Prison environment; a disused crumbling, tomb-like Federal Penitentiary, lying in a remote region of one of the less glamorous Rustbelt states.

- One playable character exclusive to the Xbox LIVE® Marketplace version of the demo (Renwick, a tough, no nonsense, NYPD Detective whose investigations brought him too close to The Club™).

- Single player modes ‘Sprint’ and ‘Time Attack’.

- Multiplayer splitscreen.

As one of eight misfit gladiators players must fight in a shadowy underground blood-sport run by a secret group of sick millionaires. Each character has their own reasons for being in The Club™ – some are there against their will, others to experience the ultimate high. Whatever their reasons what unites them is the need to kill quickly and skilfully – a challenge those who download this demo will experience first hand.

It seems that, like the PS3 version of the demo, this one is also only available in Europe and Australia.  Hopefully Sega America will get off their arses and do something for the US gamers out there.  But for now it feels mighty good to be in Europe ;)

Expect a full opinion, of the demo, from either myself or Ryan on the site, within the next day or so (once we’ve had a chance to actually play it).

The Club will be released across Europe on February 8th 2008 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. For more information on the game, please visit the official site.

Can’t you just switch the region from your 360 and download demos from Japan and Europe?!

Well George, you used to be able to. I used to have a Japanese and a Europe account (im Canadian) to get the exclusive content on my 360. Unfortunately as of late, Microsoft didn’t liek this and started putting in stricter restrictions, rendering my Japanese and UK account worthless as now i get an error “unable to download from this region” or something to that effect anyways.

My PS3 UK account (using Richard Prachets address lol, thanks again Discworld) allowed me to download the Club demo and a bunch of exclusive media and demos we Canadians arent entitled to, and play them.

The Club is an interesting game to say the very least. If you do your research off of Bizzar’s website, the very forumla is still very much Racing oriented. Its just on foot + guns. The actual game concept itself is unique and kind of refreshing in a nice arcade sense, my main complaint comes in with the controls. Its very obvious this is the first time this company has had to work with Character Control over Car Control as the controls are extremely stiff. They ARE responsive, jsut very stiff. The Aiming needs some work to feel good, its never too slow for precision but its never fast enough to grab the next combo kill across screens, as much as youd like anyways.

But then, it was Dragov, i must wonder how Renwick’s controls feel…

“Why would they want them?” Kijuna if you are referring to Ghost Squad and NiGHTS, people should want them because they are fun games - I played a bit of both on the Wii and I liked them - I cannot wait to be able to own my own copy of each.

Kyle - Bizarre Creations shouldn’t be too unfamiliar with 3rd person shooters.
They are the guys behind the (highly under-rated) Fur Fighter games. Which I believe they started before doing racing games.

-Then again most likely the team who worked on Fur Fighters have probably left by now, so you are most likely left with the PGR guys ;)
