Rumor: Sega Xbox games coming to Xbox Live Marketplace
Posted by George. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360. Tagged with Rumor Mill.

According to Surfer Girl’s blog, they expect over 100 Xbox orginals on the market place by the end of next year and list some upcoming Xbox games to hit the marketplace soon. The list consisted of a lot of games and some where Sega games that we all know and love.
- Jet Set Radio Future
- Panzer Dragoon Orta
- Shenmue II
- ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth
- GunValkyrie
Its hard to actually condone buying these games again, since most of them are cheaper to get used and downloaded ones come with nothing extra. But seeing these great franchises in any form is good, means that Sega hasn’t forgotten about them.
Filed this under rumor because I don’t trust surfers or girls. Even if it is most likely true, since Microsoft announced they will put new games in a weekly basis.

I’d say it’s more of a fact than a rumour. Microsoft mentioned all these games before they even did the service.

The only way I’d be okay if Microsoft and Sega does this is if they also release patches to make these games backwards compatible. I somewhat recently bought Toe Jam and Earl assuming that it was BC, but it wasn’t.
I don’t want to now have to buy the game again just to play it.

The first three listed are most certainly are backwards compatible. Panzer Dragoon Orta and Toe Jam and Earl III seem rather difficult to find these days this side of eBay (I assume everyone who still owns a copy at this point intends to keep it) so it’s a good thing for them, I think.
It’s actually a prerequisite for these games to be backwards compatible in the traditional Xbox 360 sense in the first place: Xbox Originals downloads use precisely the same emulator.
Gunvalkyrie was listed there as well, and Phantom Dust isn’t technically a Sega title, but I think it’s close enough!

Hopefully this will mean they fix the annoying bug in the PDOrta emulation on the 360. You can’t get past the third level :( (I think this only affects PAL)

Angelo, thanks! I missed GunValkyrie for some reason but have now added it

Every BC game I’ve played had serious bugs. Panzer Dragoon doesn’t work as a bonus unlockable and a boss fight fucks up, forcing you to “retry” and thusly ruining your score. Outrun Coast 2 Coast has audio issues, requiring constant resets to solve. It’s just all bullshite and they’d better fix it all before putting them up.

I hate yet to try actually playing XBOX games on the 360. I might play Jade empire soon though, after finish the games i’m currently beating.

I had that boss problem fighting Abadd in the Sestren one time, but then after that Panzer Dragoon Orta has been really smooth.

I tried to play Shenmue 2 the other day and noticed that it doesn’t support widescreen, then I took it out of the disk tray.
Does Orta support WS?

Downloaded ones come with nothing extra?
I don’t think so, because we’ll be able to have these on our Hard Drive!
so, this will also help us to keep our discs safer!
I’ll buy these three:
Jet Set Radio Future
Panzer Dragoon Orta<<<Could never play this one during last ghe
Shenmue II

So you get less, you get a disk. If you wanted to keep your disk ’safer’ you could go to the store and buy a extra used copy and it will run you like 2 bucks for Jet Set Radio Future, 5 bucks for Panzer Dragoon Orta, and 7 Bucks for Shenmue 2. Instead of paying 15 dollars each and taking up all the space in your harddrive.

Phantom Dust was not released in Europe, I don’t think it will work in PAL systems, I hope I am wrong… same for Rent-a-Hero even if it is in Japanese
Spikeout should be in that list, spikeout should be BW compatible xd
PS: Orta supports WS

^As for Panzer I like your suggestion since I’ve never played that title
and this means that I am not a Panzer fan yet.
But as for Shenmue II, since I’m a Shenmue fan I should buy it!,
just imagine if Shenmue II X can become one of the best-sellers on
Xbox LIVE!, so giving a few GIGS of my HDD to my #1 beloved franchise
can’t really harm, especially since I always like to play Shenmue whenever I can.
And finally regarding Jet Set Radio, if it’s going to help us for seeing a new sequel to this game 15 dollars isn’t that high, however I hope Microsoft
start selling these type of games with a lower price…maybe 5 or 10 dollars.
So paying 15 dollars for Shenmue II can’t bother me at all,
but for titles like Panzer or JSRF it’s a high price in comparing
with your prices…however I don’t think that it’s a 100% safe idea
to use used copies! because if they’re not going to be clean enough
they can really harm to our console! & this might force us to pay another
??? dollars for repairing our console or buying a new one!
BTW many people’s 360s are NTSC/J!
so Shenmue II can be a must buy for them since
only NTSC/UC & PAL consoles can run Shenmue II X.

^Personally I had the US(NTSC/UC) version of Shenmue II for the first Xbox,
but as far as I know it released for European(PAL) Xbox consoles too.
