See NiGHTS transform into other beings
We’ve known for quite awhile now that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams would feature magical masks that would transform our flying friend into such majestical beings as a dolphin, rocket and dragon. However, we haven’t yet seen this transformation in video form until now.
To be quite honest, it doesn’t really appear most of these massive transformations actually mean very much in terms of altering gameplay. Sure, NiGHTS can venture underwater and perform corkscrew-style moves in air, but it still revolves around the same gameplay style as NiGHTS in jester form. However, this video may not capture everything these new forms can do, which we certainly hope is true.
In other NiGHTS: JoD news, NiGHTSintoDreams.com is reporting the game could really see a delay again after Sega already denied the last rumors of the game’s release date slippage. However, Sega Nerds contacted Sega of America PR and was told the game will still make its December release date.

The dolphin thing is reminiscent of the spot in (i think) Splash Garden where you swim through the cave and NiGHTS gets a mer-person tail. That transformation switched perspectives from side to over-the-shoulder and changed the controls, so maybe the transformations in JoD will require different methods of control?
That could be a cool idea. Dragons would fly differently from rocket ships or purple jesters, and swimming in water as a dolphin would certainly be a different action than flying through air.

The video doesn’t work for those who don’t live in the US, but I did find this Youtuber who uploaded it.

Also, I was really hoping not to see any platforming levels at all :(

Well, why don’t you guys get with the rest of the civilized world and attempt to illegally immigrate to America where the best things in the world reside?

Chris: Best things in the world? No Toffee Pops = Fail.
These platforming sections still bother me. As seems to have been the case with the majority of Sonic Team’s games since Sonic Adventure, they seem to INSIST on breaking up the “monotonous” high-speed/flying sections.
THEY’RE WHY WE BOUGHT THE GAME, SEGA!
Can you imagine buying an ice cream and finding intermittent strips of bacon spread evenly throughout the length of it to “break up the dessert sections?”

Hmm Bacon flavoured iced treat….
I know what you mean, if the platforming was a side quest, then it wouldn’t be too bad.
