It’s hard not to get excited with this many exclamation points!!!!

Right. I know you all love agreeing with me about retro gaming- and you do all the time, every time! (Especially when I go into great detail!) But this time I’m going to have to be pretty straightforward.

But it was either put all the effort into this or the Sonic Re-view. Hit the jump for an unbelievably short look back!

Alien Soldier is a Treasure game. What else did Treasure do for the Genesis again?

Oh, right. Plus it never came out here, unless you count a limited release on the Sega Channel. Did you have the Sega Channel? I know I didn’t! Thus, we can justify the $1 increase in price for its newfound availability.

For those not in the know (which may be a number of people), Alien Soldier is a run and gun sidescroller that focuses largely on boss fights. In fact, so strong is this focus that the sections between these grand boss battles are largely there to give you breathing room.

But the boss battles themselves? Rocking sweet. Boss battles have always been one of Treasure’s strong points, and it shows here- and not only are Alien Soldier’s boss battles awesome, but there are three or four of them in each stage.

Ah, humanoid metallic wolf vs. bird man. A battle as old as time.

If you’re not a fan of Treasure games, Alien Soldier won’t change your mind. But if you enjoy the run and gun genre, it will provide you with a rock solid experience. And it’s not even on the Sega Genesis Collection! You didn’t think I could go a whole Look Back without bringing that up again, did you?

Anyways, Alien Soldier is…
