TGS 2007: Day two (quick) overview and what do you want from me?

TGS day two was actually yesterday, for me - not sure about all you folks in other timezones - But I was not able to update with the round up of the day, because immediately after the show, I went to the main TGS party, and then bumbled my drunken way into the Xbox 360 party, yeah all hard work. But I was hob-nobbing (so to speak) and met a few interesting people. And went out for some more drinks afterwards, getting back very late and very wobbly.
So this morning I got a phone call in my hotel room, from one of the guys I met at the party. It was very early and my head was still spinning. But my new friend ask if I would like to go to Akihabara, check out some games stores and what-not. So I spent the day walking around various stores, in incredible heats (for an English man), with a guy who works for Codemasters.
I’m not bragging, but that is my excuse for not giving you another up date, till now. Also it wasn’t all fun, I have been buying games in Akibabara… games for you guys! So expect some goodies for a few lucky people upon my return.
Anyway, what happened on day two?
Well to be honest it was all pretty much the same for me. Playing the same games again (to make sure I get a good feel for them), but I found Sega Rally on the 360- which wasn’t in the Sega area, which was a lot more fun than the PS3 version, just because of the rumble features.  I also played on some more non-Sega titles…
Metal Gear Online 2 - sort of fun, but it’s inferior to a lot of other shooters, like Counter Strike, Gears of war… Halo 2. Ninja Gaiden DS, actually really fun and graphically pretty good (for a DS game). Lord of the Rings Online… (yeah it’s not out in Japan yet), some weird Disney game, on the Wii (not sure what it was, didn’t recognise the character), it was fun enough, but really easy - one for the kids.  And a Golf game by TECMO, on the Wii, also Naruto on the Wii, which was pretty fun. Plus a few other bits and pieces.
I also saw people playing Little Big Planet on the PS3…. I don’t understand why everyone has gone so crazy over this game. It looks really fun to play, but the hype it’s been receiving is just crazy. Maybe the parts I was watching weren’t the bulk of the game of something, but to me it looked like a funny little platform/puzzle game.
And one pretty sweet thing was how I got to play on a game with the new rumble ‘enhanced’ Dual Shock 3 controller. To be honest it is basically like a wireless PS2 controller, but with nicer analogue shoulder buttons. Still it instantly makes the PS3 games more fun. Rumble is so simple, yet games just don’t feel the same without it these days.
Now for some fun…
What do you guys want from me?! Tomorrow is the last day for TGS, it’s a public day, so it’s going to be busy. But I am willing to fight through the crowds to test any upcoming games you want to hear about. It doesn’t have to be sega. Actually forget Sega for now. I am definitely going to be previewing all of their games, so don’t worry. But if you guys want me to wait the 2hours to play Little Big Planet, I will. If you want me to check out Ninja Gaiden II, on the Xbox 360, I shall.
Remember it’s going to be tomorrow morning. So you guys have about 14 hours or so (from the time this is posted), before I’ll have to leave, and get in early to play the games. Tell me what you want to see… now!

If you haven’t already…..
Go play Valkyrie of the Battlefield. I want to know DETAILS please!!!
From watching gameplay videos I get most of whats going on, but I’d really like to know if you can figure out (maybe), how large of a party you get to use. If you get to place the characters on the battlefield or if they start just where ever. And maybe if there’s equipment, different vehicles you can use, ANYTHING!!!! Open a menu and see what you can make out!
LittleBigPlanet is actually the game I bought a ps3 for. But theres so much of that game around the net that I already have a full understanding of it.
A nonSega game I’d like to know more about would be DevilMayCry4. Is that playable there? Have you played the other ones? I basically want to know about the timing to all the combos, the depth of the combat and whatnot.

Um er, I can’t think of any non-SEGA game apart from Metal Gear Solid 4 and DMC4, and then, I’m more excited about the SEGA games.
I want in depth impressions on NiGHTS and Valkyrie of the Battlefied though! = ]

Just so you all know - the game isn’t called Valkyrie of the Battlefield (at least not at TGS) It’s Gallian Chronicles.
And I’ll give you more details when the time comes ;)
But definitely I shall check out DMC4, MGS4 (though MGS4 had a constant HUGE queue on the business days) Ill get to that one first I think.

Please check out Nights again for me, Ninja Gaiden 2 and check out the new system but also see if Rachel is in it! Other than that be on the lookout for Bleach 3rd on the DS if you can and how the Phantasy Star Universe expansion is coming along.
Thanks a lot Graham but since we live in the same country I expect some goodies, arigato. :P

Yeah I thought that - but I asked someone and they just said Gallian Chronicles…. Also seems weird to have the whole title in Japanese and then the rest in English.
But I’ll ask someone else tmrw. The Japanese guy may not have understood my question.
But I prefer Gallian Chronicles. Sounds better to me ;)
-and Diogo - I actually went looking for PSU - I saw a sign in the 360 area… but actually couldnt see the game. Ill check again tmrw.

I dunno who you spoke to G but that person is severly mistaken. I’ve checked vamitsu and the oficial sega sites and it says the same thing that is valkryie of the battlefied go to the website and it has that name as an address. http://valkyria.jp/
Unless he was indicating that the game will co under its subtitle as the main one for the US release as far as Japan is concerned Valk is the main title of the game

Great Work Graham,
you must be tired for now so instead of asking something from you to do for us I rather to say please, enjoy your trip! but if you still want to do something!
please say hello to Nagoshi-san on behalf of none Japanese Yakuza fans!
& then please upload some more videos from Japan! videos which can be related to the world of Japanese video games! for example:game stores,
SEGA Clubs, arcade machines and etc!
Thanks again for your info!
BTW why I didn’t ask from you to catch Yu Suzuki & ask him about Shenmue 3!
well, I’ve already asked this from IGN and since IGN takes care
about Shenmue(unlike Game Spot) they’ve added a small mention
as a response to my request at the end of their newest TGS article!
Here it is:
http://games.ign.com/articles/822/822368p1.html
And here is a quote:
IGN said:
“Oh, and Alimn, we looked for Yu Suzuki to ask him about Shenmue 3, but couldn’t find him anywhere. Our apologies.”
Thanks to IGN for their special attention to Shenmue fans.
Regards-Alimn

Yeah, it was reported on Go Nintendo that the game had huge lines.
Maybe it’ll beat my sales expectations :D.

Just another quick update for you guys.
Its now 4pm - the show closes around 5. Unfortunately it looks like I won’t be able to see many more games - because most of the queues are still pretty big.
Capcom have closed off most of their lines, so that’s going to be a no-go. But I did get to play on DMC4 earlier - so alls not lost (just can’t play on Resident Evil Chronicles :( )
And because its the public day, it’s hard to find anyone I can talk to about games releases. Most of the Sega staff don’t really seem to know what’s going on with releases or if games are going to be westernised.
-After playing Bleach DS, I know that’d I want more there.
Anyway, I think Im going to stare a bit more at one of the Sega girls, she waved at me earlier - like she must have recognised me from the previous days ;) Maybe I can slip her my number….
