Hasle: Bloodshot moves to Alpha stage

by James on September 6th, 2007

070906blood.jpgIt’s always interesting to hear gaming news from the news-makers themselves, and this instance is no different as we start to see posts popping up at the Condemned 2: Bloodshot development blog.

Dave Hasle, Senior Producer at Monolith Productions, talks through the long processes of game development as he and his team “Push to Alpha” on the sequel to 2005’s Condemned: Criminal Origins.

Since Dave is pretty much the man in charge, he offers a decidedly unique perspective. He touches on some things that are rarely spoken about in the gaming community (at least by the guys running the show) and offers some valuable insight for gaming fans.

Oftentimes, producer chit-chat is all about how “radical” their game is, or how many polygons they’ve crammed onto a disc, or some other useless junk. However, Dave (in this first post anyway) has gone a slightly different route, illustrating the balance he has to strike between the artistic side of the business, and the … well … business side of the business. It’s a thoughtful angle.

Along with a general explanation of all the aspects of development, Dave has posted a sampling of concept art for the game. There are only a few shots up so far, but as far as I can see the art direction is doing a good job keeping things macabre and creepy.

Additionally, he takes some time to break down the roster over at Monolith and gives a good explanation of what each person is tasked with during the production of Bloodshot.

Keep a look out for additional blog updates coming soon, as Monolith gets the hype machine rolling towards the game’s Q1 2008 release.

I see we have a new news reporter person!

I like those pieces of art, they look freakishly wrong and weird, I think this one shall scare me more then the first one, and I’ve only played that one for 10 minutes!

I like thet fact that the lollypop would give you more of a cut than a cavity. Looks like good old Ethan will end up investigating a murder at a Carnival fair and allucinate about all kinds of twisted creatures. :P
