Scan lends credence to NiGHTS delay rumor

070903nights.jpgLast week, word spread throughout the internet that NiGHTS had slipped from its November release date to early 2008. Then, we didn’t have anything official to go off of except from a staff member at NiGHTSintodreams.com, but a new scan from the Official Nintendo Magazine gives this rumor all the credibility we were (or weren’t) hoping for.

As you can see in the scan, the magazine lists the game’s estimated time of arrival at Spring 2008.

Meanwhile, Gamepro contacted Sega to try to clear this whole mess up, but they didn’t get much progress.

However, when asked by GamePro, Sega of America officials deferred comment on the rumor even saying they had yet to hear of the delay.

It looks like the Sega reps don’t want to talk about this yet or they’re just playing dumb. Either way, I think it’s plain to see something’s amiss.

Well, I wasn’t expecting the UK to get it until around then anyway.

You know, seeing how the game industry likes to take a good piss all over us now and again.

US should still get it earlier than that, though.

Er Saphion, that’s usually the case with other major publishers like Nintendo, but SEGA is one of the few that get their games out as soon as possible in Europe. So if such a delay did take place, it would be highly unusual, remember, even Shenmue came out a month after its American counterpart! So I do really doubt they’d delay it specifically for us European (even Yakuza and Phantasy Star Universe were released in at least a month since the release of it’s American counterparts)

True! I guess I’m just too used to getting raped by companies these days. See: Super Paper Mario release dates. Ah! And we DID get Shenmue II on the Dreamcast.

I recall waiting a short eternity for Phantasy Star Online Ep I & II back in the day, though (Although it might have just seemed like one!). Good times…

Yeah, the Phantasy Star Online games did see some space between release date for some reason, but most SEGA games generally don’t.

Gah, now I’m in Dreamcast nostalgia mode. :(

Oh Dreamcast, how I miss you…! *sobs*

Then go now, and play it! Go to China in Shenmue! save Ecco’s world, beat some heads in Power Stone! Play a Sonic Adventure! Paint the town in Jet Set Radio! Shake them maracas in Samba De Amigos! Save them mice in Chu Chu Rocket! Scare the be jibbers out of people in Crazy Taxi! Found your brother in Resident Evil: Code Veronica! Destroy Soul Edge in Soul Calibur! Fly the Skies in Skies of Arcadia! Get the Tiger to the top in Virtua Tennis! Beat some bops in Rez! Get some heads in Headhunter! Bash some bots in Bangai-O! And accept the challenge in Ferrari F355 Challenge!

And I haven’t even mentioned Seaman, Typing of the Dead, SEGA GT, Fur Fighters and so many many more…

Fur Fighters was effing brilliant. Highly underrated, as was the case with most games on the Dreamcast.

In the words of Soul Calibur: “The legend will never die!”.

I’ve always wanted to play Typing of the Dead but I can’t find the damn thing for love nor money.

I know…you’d probably have more luck trying to find it on the PC version then the Dreamcast Saphion, well at least you now know what its better to buy games sooner rather then later!

Also, why is NiGHTS the 99th feature? I mean really…? why?

No seriously, I need to know!

Because we have a cruel and merciless God.

Which explains a lot of things, thinking about it.

Or Nintendo is in league with the Devil…
