Shenmue fans want you!

As all of us should know, Shenmue is one of Sega’s defining games, representing innovation and ambition on the Dreamcast and videogames in general. It’s a masterpiece in every sense of the word, but it’s an unfinished one.
Now, we all know too well that one of us could never sway Sega’s opinion on the matter of releasing Shenmue 3. But some of the Shenmue Dojo community, myself included, have decided to band together and get Sega to at least take note that the fans are still out there, and we want our ending! Hopefully we’ll get some gamers talking about Shenmue again at the same time!
So what can you do to help?
Well If you have a MySpace account, you could check out the Shenmue MySpace Campaign! Add them to your friends list and leave some comments!
You could sign the online petition. Okay, so they don’t usually work, but did you know that Yu Suzuki once mentioned this specific online petition a few years back? So we know that Sega is taking notice! SIGN RIGHT HERE!
You could make a YouTube video for Shenmue. Lots of people have been doing it just that. Add it to THIS GROUP!
What about using your IGN account to add Shenmue 3 to your wish list? It increases popularity for the game.
Do you go to any forums we don’t? You could always make a Shenmue-related topic to get people talking.
Got any of your own ideas, or want to talk about this more with others? Join the SHENMUE DOJO FORUMS, and go to the Shenmue Campaign section.
If you happen to be a good website designer with some time on your hands, and this kind of thing has taken your interest, why not get in contact with me at ryan@seganerds.com. I have a website that needs work and no one to help me!
This is for all you Shenmue fans out there!

I go to SoA. You are not ALLOWED to make any Shenmue 3 topics.
SEGA don’t really care about IGN either.
And soon, copyrighted stuff will be deleted on YouTube, including videos with Shenmue stuff in them.
Wow, SEGA really don’t want Shenmue 3, do they?

The only reason you cant make topics on SEGA is because there so many in the past, Sega dont read the SoA forums anyway that rule was put in place by mods who are really just members of the community.

So, if they don’t read the official forum, they’re going read unofficial ones?
Yeah right.

What are you talking about? When did I ever suggest they did read unofficial ones?
Not to mention Sega of Europe have noticed this website,
We have been asked by Sega of America to go to test games and have reviewed games sent from them before. I have every reason to think SEGA will be taking note of what we do.

I know that people within Sega do take notice to some Sega fan sites (like Sega Nerds) and big multi-sites (like IGN).
It’s not totally out of the question that Sega could be checking around to see what fans want.
Whether those people that do look at the various sites have any ‘power,’ I don’t know. But there is always a chance something could happen (have you never watched a Disney movie before?!)
While it could be a long shot, I think spending a couple of minutes signing up for something, is a small price to pay, if we do get Shenmue.

None of that changes the fact that Shenmue lost Sega a ton of money. Videogames are a business, and Sega’s not going to be making any games that have shown not to make money. This is also why Yakuza 2 will probably never be released outside of Japan.

Ha! What nonsense!
On an ENTIRELY UNRELATED TOPIC, I think Phantasy Star Online DS would be infinitely awesome.

But didn’t SEGA say the Yakuza series did something like 1.7 million worldwide units sold, taking into a account Yakuza did about 700,000, and Yakuza 2 did 550,000, its safe to assume Yakuza did something like 500,000 + in Europe.
So I like have no idea why they haven’t released Yakuza 2 in Europe, it was pretty successful there.
Also well sign in a moment or two, but I’d bet the game wouldn’t sale well with the crowd thats on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

The level of functionality in a Shenmue game on the Wii would be nothing short of mind blowing.

Shenmue sold very well, it’s production values are what kept it from earning money. Next gen costs are down, Gears of War only cost $9 million, they can afford to make Shenmue III now :)

Good luck with the campaign…I’ve already participated in two of those events (MySpace and petition signing), so I’m released of any bounds and chains.

If Gears of Wars cost 9million to make they sold more the a million copies at $60 a pop thats a profit of 60 million American Dollars(€44,000,000—Â¥6,000,000,000, whichever currency you prefer) this isn’t including collector edition varible. For Epic to make back money on Gears 1.3% of all XBOX 360 owners would have to purchase one copy of the game. COME ON SEGA HOW IS THERE NOT PROFIT IN MAKING SHENMUE 3!!!!1.4 PERCENT!!!!!!!

Yakuza is good.. but it’s no Shenmue
Shenmue already has a huge hype. Even after years of silence. All this hype would explode if it was announced and the profits would rocket to the sky.

After recently playing through the game again, i still get goosebumps when on the rooftop in Kowloon. However, lets not get into debates on which system it should be released on. As long as its released! Suzuki, if you can’t decide which machine to develop for… put it on the PC. Shenmue 3 would probably only sell to harcore Shenmue fans only, so everybody gather your mates and let them see the magic! Unfortunatly it isn’t everyones cup of tea and in my recent conversion tactics my friend said “Where is the gun?”. Pffft, some people don’t know a masterpiece when it smacks them in the face! Graphics to music these games are one in a million and they now need to get into 2nd gear and get it on the production table, if its not there already. I was also reading further above about Sega wanting rid of any Shenmue content from certain area’s including YouTube. Makes me a little curious on what they have to hide, or as Ren would say “This is Fishy!”.
Suzuki has said many a time he wants to finish the series, i also think he will most likely leave a cliff hanger at the end of the third installment, and we will be back to asking for a fourth. If you think about it they could make loads of spin offs from this title too with all the different personality’s in these games!
I do have to say this and that’s if its going to be rushed i would rather it not be released. It wasn’t too clever when they released Shenmue 2 on the DC and it was all in Japanese with subtitles. Superb if you want the feeling of been somewhere outside of Japan. But i like Corey, i think he plays Ryo well.
I have done loads and loads of research to try and get answers, but Sega have got this really close to their chest and information on all the games have been sparse in the past, which includes Shenmue Online.
So Shenmue Online, apparently cancelled, the ideaology behind the game of been able to find your own destiny or finishing the story so to speak, if this was true then it’s probably why it was cancelled and Suzuki probably wasn’t ultimately happy with it. Which then leaves all that development time wasted with a semi programmed game!
Could this be the code they use in Shenmue 3? I have no idea. All i know is, it’s gonna take some time. It’s going to be worth the wait. I believe its been around 7 years now since the last release. So lets look at this and get these campagnes running, Suzuki is watching. I bet he lets his bosses know exactly what he see’s too.
I do think that everybody should convert people into playing Shenmue which will then give us a bigger user base, more signitures, more people to add as friend’s on Myspace and the rest of the above.
So Suzuki, please come out of Warehouse No. 8 and give us what we NEED!
*RANT OVER*
