Sega still won’t let people actually play NiGHTS:JoD. Plus possible release date

More impressions today of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, courtesy of Gamespot at Leipzig. Well, visual impressions, anyway, as the press didn’t even get to play it.
In this case, someone else played it while the game journalists watched and wrote what they thought about the game that some other guy played. Despite this added layer of separation, some new details squeaked their way through, such as the following about gameplay while the presenter chased a bird in-game:
In his pursuit of the bird, our presenter darted through rings and hit speed boosts to bring himself into range, then leapt on the beast’s back and stole its keys. From there, he had to fly to the end of the racecourse and deposit his plunder for a grade.
The revelation in all of this is that the targets NiGHTS has to reach are moving, and apparently don’t require a set number of collectible blue orbs to take their keys (JoD’s equivalent of colored ideya orbs from the first game).
Aside from these new impressions, is anyone else worried that Sega won’t let people play the game this late in development? It’s slated for an as-of-yet unspecified Q4 release*, and if you haven’t noticed October is fast approaching. In any case, stick around Sega Nerds - we promise to let you know as soon as someone actually plays the game.
*Jeuxfrance.com is reporting that Nights will be available for purchase on November 23, 2007 in Europe. Exciting! (link translated via Babelfish)

Hmmmm
I have faith.
Seriously, in this day and age we know almost everything there is to know about unreleased games because of the internet.
I wish it were like the old days where we saw some shots in a magazine and speculated about how good the game will be. I’ve tried VERY hard not to look at certain games coming out because it’ll spoil the magic.
This new NiGHTS seems to be enough like the original that i’ll be happy, yet still ad new gameplay to it to make it a true sequel. Maybe Sega is just keeping it underwraps till its released. I wouldnt mind that at all.

Here’s one thing that fails to ever get mentioned and I’m particularly concerned. The music. Who’s handling the music? Please tell me it’s the same team, I’d hate for the aesthetic to be ruined by sub-par music.

Way I see it, if Sega or Sonic Team knew they where releasing a crap game, they wouldn’t be so cagey about hands on impressions. They are being careful about when the media actually gets to play it, telling us that they actually care about what people think about this game, meaning they actually care about the quality.
So far, Sega PR people have only presented the game with the analog controls. My guess is, Sega is waiting until the Wii mote controls are tuned to their liking, and then let the press try that out as their main control scheme.

By the way, the music is being handled by the original composer, and supposedly sounds like the stuff from the original game ;).

Thats a interesting take on it Nuckles, I’ll be getting this game mind, the art direction has me sold on that alone, even if the game controls bad, I’m sure I’m going to enjoy looking at the graphics.
