Sonic Riders

After previously reporting that a Sonic Riders sequel was a possibility, it seems that the rumors have been confirmed. The cover of the upcoming September 2007 issue of Play Magazine promises the first look at Sonic Riders 2.

Here’s a link to the image on the official Play Magazine site itself for all the skeptical nerds out there. In case that goes down for some reason, the image is mirrored down at the bottom of this post.

No platforms are mentioned on the magazine cover, so we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out if the rumors of Sonic Riders 2 hitting the Wii and PlayStation 2 are true or not.

Even if this sequel is real, I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any Wii games after this Christmas for awhile. Maybe in April.

But if anything, I would highly recommend an online mode.

I would highly recommend, to Sega, that they do away with boards and give us something more like Sonic R.
Where Sonic (and the fast people) run, and then Robotnik and Amy use vehicles - and if they use Nights again (like in the first Riders) He could fly along - which would be very erotic.

Well if they were running, there really wouldn’t be much point in calling it Sonic “Riders,” now would there?

But honestly, Riders 1 was unplayable. I loved Sonic R. I want to see something like Sonic R again.

I loved it - didn’t stop ’till I 100%’d the entire game. Great stuff.

(Although apparently I’m in the minority!)

I wouldn’t say the game is broken but the over all experience did feel extremely dated to me. The same feeling came with Sonic Heroes. The game felt glitchy, incomplete, and mostly half assed. That said I enjoyed Riders plenty. I found the AI more challenging then game breaking although I can see how many would just throw in the towel.

yes I enjoyed it, no I would never give it the credit of being a well made game.

I only hope it’s Wii exclusive in order to use that WiiFit balance board.

THAT would be cool as hell :)

The controls didn’t suck, i think mostly everyone here sucked (like me) i thought it was the controls. My cousin (thats like 13) came over and he was fucking amazing, he sat down with me and explained how some of the things worked. Trust me this isn’t no Mario kart. this game actually takes some skill.

That’s what I hated so much about Sonic Riders. It was impossible to just pick up and play. And what’s worse, the game actually punishes new players for not being good (Getting off the board and going extremely slow). Because of that, it was an absolutely horrible multiplayer experience. As a single player experience, it was just stupid. The AI didn’t require you to be good at the game, it required you to memorize every shortcut and never mess up even slightly. That’s garbage. In my opinion, of course.

I played with my cousin, and the game goes faster then any sonic game i have played (3-D) obviously you have to know what you are doing.

I rather liked those… ah, what were they called… Sega Carnival and… the other Sega-themed tracks. I’m hoping for more unlockable Sega characters, not just Sonic Team ones.
