Sega has now released Sonic 2, Ecco: Tides of Time and Golden Axe II for the Virtual Console in Europe for 800 Wii points each.
I won’t bore you with details about the games, because frankly, if you don’t already know enough about them, you’re probably on the wrong site.
So today, I present you with a video of the Sonic the Hedgehog theme being played at Yale University during the Video Games Live concert.

Despite feeding our very inner freak nature I really liked that video.
That remembered me how I would really love to go to (or, well, at least view in good quality) a Richard Jacques concert.
Also, it shows how Sega Japan really care about selling soundtrack of their games, with arranges, arcades, retros and so, but in the west doesnt really exists that culture, nor from almost any videogame company that makes the same in Japan; maybe just for promotion of a few games but no more. Maybe it is a very niche market, and selling soundtracks would be the same than actually selling any other thing at SegaDirect like toys and so (not counting license problems, customs and so), but would be really great to buy even in something like iTunes the compilations and arrange music from videogames they do, at least now that the Long Tail is perceived as a reality.
There is an actual way of buying sometthing from SegaDirect not living in Japan?. Problem with other export stores is that, afaik, you can not ask them what you want.

Video Games Live is fantastic if you can stand A) Tommy Tallarico, B) His stupid idea of putting Advent Rising music in the show just because he wrote it, and C) The unbelievably stupid idea of showing actual footage of scenes of destitute horror and Japan post-Hiroshima and Nagasaki while the music for Medal of Honor played. The Sonic 1 medley, though, was pretty much the highlight of this or any other show I’ve seen in a concert hall. Definitely go see it if you get the chance.
Oh, and Sega Genesis Collection, etc., etc.
