It seems that there has been a bit of confusion over when Virtua Fighter 5 will (finally) be released, for the Xbox 360. While Sega has not yet set a final date for the release, many online (and offline) retail stores have penciled dates into their diaries. Although all these dates seem to differ greatly from one another.

Among the culprits are, US store Gamestop, which has pushed its forecast back to October, while UK-based GAME has it written down for a November release. But both Play.com and Amazon.co.uk think it’s going to be out 28th September.

So which one is right? Well fortunately Eurogamer.com, did something intelligent and actually asked Sega when they thought they will be shipping the game;

“Sega has told Eurogamer this afternoon that, as far as it’s concerned, Virtua Fighter 5 on Xbox 360 is still due out in summer.”

So summer. Yeah would be decent to get an actual date - but at least we (Xbox 360 owners) shouldn’t be waiting until the christmas period before we can start putting the beat down on our mates.

Eurogamer also points out that Sega did not specify what has changed with the 360 version, but from previous articles it seems as though it will be similar to the version C arcade cabinets.
