Gameworks: Sega, food and 3 new games
Sega has announced that in some 14 of it’s casual dining outlets, GameWorks, that it shall be installing 3 new arcade features.
For anybody that doesn’t know (and to be honest I didn’t until a few minutes ago - but hey, I’m British) GameWorks is a casual dining/entertainment outlet, which basically means burgers and gaming all under one roof - throw in some chicken wings and it’ll be like heaven… well son of a….!
GameWorks was originally founded by entertainment leaders—Dreamworks SKG/Steven Spielberg, Universal Studios, and Skip Paul, GameWorks Chairman & Co-founder.  The widespread success, of Gameworks, landed the interests of SEGA and the Sega Sammy Group, whose acquistion of GameWorks in May 2005 and their formation of Sega Entertainment U.S.A., Inc. (SEUI), has furthered their scope in developing the experience of high-tech games and amusement facilities for all ages. For full details of the restaurants history click here.
It was announced, today, that Sega intend to release 3 of its newer arcade attractions across the chain, and hope to bring in more punters/gamers with the amazing OutRun 2 SP SDX in Las Vegas, Detroit and Chicago. The test launch of Virtual Bowling by Brunswick in Las Vegas and some 84 UFO Catcherers throughout the entire company.
“We continue to upgrade our entertainment experience to appeal to a broad audience - everyone who drives or wants to drive. OutRun2 SP SDX is a game the public has been waiting for,” said Ben Kitay, President, COO, SEUI. “OutRun SP SDX is the newest offering from our parent company Sega, so we are excited to be the first location in the U.S. where guests can try the game. Premiering these new game experiences only strengthens our commitment to offering the newest and best gaming attractions in the world.”
“Virtual Bowling is perfect for GameWorks in Las Vegas,” he continued. “It is new and exciting, and it is yet another point-of difference that keeps us in is front of the others in the casual dining and entertainment category in Las Vegas.”
“We’ve made it easier to win a prize in our UFO catchers - our goal is for the guests to experience the excitement of winning,” Kitay added. “We want them to feel they can spend two or three dollars and possibly walk away with the prize they really wanted. We want them to find the game exciting and a great value for their money - which will increase repeat play.”
GameWorks actually features more than burgers and chicken, it has several restarants and bars that fall under its name, serving such foods from fries and snack foods, to steaks and full blowm meals, as well as quenching the thirst of any heavy drinker at one of its full-service sports bars.Â
I’ll say it again, this sounds like the greatest place in the entire world! Why the hell don’t we have them over here?
