Sega Deal: Miniature consoles going for a miniature price

MiniMegadrive

The very cool Sega Genesis (Megadrive) miniture ‘Arcade Legends’ consoles have been slashed in price over at online store Amazon.com.

The fantastic little systems, which hold six classic games have been reduced by $20, right down to the pocket money price of only $9.99. For any Brits out there, this means you can get; Sonic 2, Ecco the Dolphin, Gain Ground, The Ooze, Columns, Alex Kid and the Enchanted Castle, all for the meagre price of just £5.06!

So if you are horrified by the prices of the Wii’s Virtual Console, you can now get 6 of the same titles for the price of one (actually less than) Virtual Console purchase. Fantastic bargain I’d say.

[Update]-However, one of our fellow (and highly valued) Sega Nerds has informed me that the device may not be all that great after all- Check the comments for more.  But if he is right, for $9.99, at least you won’t be breaking the bank if it does turn out to be crappy.

So check out Amazon.com for this (maybe not so) great deal before stock runs out.

This may seem like a nice deal, but don’t buy this horrid peice of shite. The sound on this thing is terrible and totally ruins any game you’re trying to play; for example each ring noise in Sonic is high pitched and will give you a headache after several minutes of it - while the jumping sound can barely even be heard. Also it only as one audio channel(no white wire) and freezes occasionaly. If anything, this hardware is an insult to all the games on it and the Genesis/Megadrive itself. It’s Sega whoring out classics again to lame companies for quick money, don’t give into it.

Woah?

Really? I’ve never had a chance to play on one of these.
Thanks for the heads up Kogen!

-I think I’ll update the post with that in mind….

I own one of these. I haven’t experienced any problems with freezing games. The sound isn’t quite right (mono). Still, overall the unit is great value for the money.

Yeah I have heard from some others that its not a bad gizmo. Having never played it- I cant say myself.

I think maybe Kogen got a bad unit. Or maybe he has the ears of a bat.
