Sega denies ‘Vintage Collection’ - Xbox fans cry
Not but a day ago we reported to you that Sega had released some images of their upcoming ‘Vintage Collection’. The Vintage Collection was said to be their title for the games that will be appearing on Xbox Live Arcade.
In particular, images of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, for the Megadrive/Genesis, were shown on the Dutch website SegaOnline. We originally picked up the news from Xbox360fanboy.com, and while I had my doubts whether it was completely solid information- as I could not translate the SegaOnline website- I posted the news up anyway, with crossed fingers.
Unfortunately, it turns out the news is false. Big thanks to Kotaku for finding out. Kotaku noticed the tagline, “Sega All The Rights Move” - (see thumbnail for image- we have highlighted the infamous words).
And so Kotaku actually queried it with Sega. This is the response they got:
“Nope they didn’t come from us, that’s for sure. Thanks for checking.”
Short, but definitely straight to the point.
Right now, we aren’t sure if SegaOnline were trying to stir things up by creating a hoax news article, or if they received the screens from some other source and posted them up with genuine intentions- just like we did. All I do know is that many an XBLA fan will be disappointed by this news.
Sega did comment about releasing XBLA titles a while back (during an E3 I believe), but we haven’t really heard much since. Fingers crossed, eh fellas?

Just because SEGA denies the screenshots doesnt mean its fake. I can 100% vouch that the screenshots are genuine. Just wait and see when SEGA releases more info about this title and maybe about the SEGA Vintage Collection. (Almost ready to play the ‘told you so’ song)

Hmm ok.
Can we ask (like Nathan has said) where you got your screenshots and information from then?
It is strange that Sega have openly denied it to one site - yet you guys (SegaOnline) say it is real.
- I know that Sega have said they will be putting old titles onto XBLA, so I know it’s not totally out of the question.
But right now I’m more willing to believe Kotaku/Sega.
I certainly hope it is true though!

What the heck? O_o I thought that was the actual Vintage Collection. But I may be a Sega fanboy of some sort, but I’m not THAT much of a fanboy O_O
