Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, PC. Tagged with Exclusive, Giveaways, Nerdaway.
Finally! After a couple of weeks of entries coming in, we can announce the winner of our SegaPC competition.
For anyone that listened to the Sega Nerdcast #4 -Return of the Fanboys, you will have already heard us announcing the winner of the contest. But it’s time to let everyone else, the ones that can’t be bothered to listen to the show (shame on you), to know the result.
And the winner is {insert drum roll here} Christian Hearne.
So congratulations to master Hearne! Not only did he win, but he was a clear winner, answering every question correctly!! So for all those that said the quiz was a bit too hard, there you go! And Christian wasn’t the only one to get a high score, the majority of entries we recieved did have scores in the high 40’s and low 50’s. But Christian clearly has better knowledge, or possibly ‘Google’ skills and was the clear winner.
I would like to thank everyone that did enter the contest, I really hope you enjoyed taking part. We would like to recieve any comments you had on the contest- good or bad- it’s the one way we can try and better ourselves, and make our next contests more fun for you guys/girls.
Also for anyone that entered the contest, or for anyone that is curious, here are the full answers to the quiz;
Note: one of the questions we had was wrong. there was some confusion when the quiz was put onto the site- so we discounted that particular question- bringing the total points down from 64 to 59 points.
Nerdcast Quiz - Answers****GAMING Knowledge:*** 2 points each
1) Which is the odd one out? - Sony Playstation. The Sony Playstation was the only console listed that does not have any Sega games on it.
2) On which mainstream Sega system will you NOT find a Virtua Fighter game? (Add-ons not included) - Mastersystem. The Sega Mastersystem is the only mainstream console by Sega not to feature any Virtua Fighter titles. .Sega Pico and MegaCD are not counted, as the Pico is (usually) not regarded as a mainstream system and the MegaCD is an add-on -which we stated, are not included. (A number of people did put MegaCD down as an answer)
3) True or False: Streets of Rage appeared on the Sega GameGear? - True. The title was a stripped down version of the Megadrive game, with only Axel and Blaze as playable characters and the levels were slightly different. But essentially a very good port of the game.
4) Which is the ONLY true exclusive Resident Evil title to appear on the GameCube? - Resident Evil: 0 (”Zero” was also accepted). Resident Evil re-make is technically not a GameCube exclusive, as the game is the same as the original title on the PS1, Saturn and PC, but with a few new features and (obviously) better graphics. Resident Evil 0 has (thus far) only been released on the Gamecube.
5) The highly acclaimed composer -Richard Jaques- has music credited for which of these games? - All of the Above. Now anyone who listened to the Nerdcast #3 -A Night shall rise again you will have heard Nathan actually answer this question, when we spoke of Richard Jaques. Nathan stated that he was one of his favourite game composers and listed a few titles that he had worked on, including the Jet Set Radio and Headhunter series. Richard Jaques composed the entire soundtracks to Headhunter and Headhunter: Redemtion (which many of you knew), but he also has his named credited to a few tracks on both the Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio: Furture soundtracks.
6) Omnikron in the US is known as What in Europe?-The Nomad Soul. (No explaination needed, that’s what it is.)

12) How many legs does a Duck have?-2 (Two). Yes, two legs and two wings. (You’d be suprised how many people were thrown by this question)
13) Who has a longer penis?-Billy Bob Thornton. At least one would hope Billy Bob has the longer ‘member’, because Billie Piper is a woman. Originally a teen pop-singer, then married Chris Evans (famous tv/ radio personality in the UK) and recently more famous for starring in Dr. Who.
14) What Cheese is made backwards?-Edam. Another ‘trick’ question, the answer comes from an old playground joke. MADE-EDAM (see?)
15) True or False in some European countries it is illegal to deny the hollocaust happened?-True. In certain European countries, if you deny that the hollocaust (the killing of the Jews during the Nazi Germany era- around World War 2) ever happened, you can be thrown in prison. Austria is one of the main countires that supports this law.
Total= 12 points
*****Movie Knowledge***** 5 Points each.
16) In Demolition Man which actor’s movies does LT. Huxely (Sandra Bullock) say she watched in order to learn how to kick (asked after beating up a guy)?-Jackie Chan Movies. Towards the end of the movie, Stallone and Bullock are jumped on by a few enemies. Stallone beats up a couple of guys, while Bullock is grabbed by one big guy. She then proceeds to (literally) kick his ass. Once the enemies are thwarted Stallone asks her where she leanred to kick. Her response- “Oh, Jackie Chan movies.”
17) In ‘Robin Hood Prince of Thieves,’ Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman enter England on the shores of Dover. By when does does Robin say they should arrive at Nottingham?
***This is the question that was put up incorrectly. The actual answer is- Nightfall. But that option was missed off the quiz sheet you recieved. We can only apologise for this mistake and this question was void, to make it fair for all.****
18) Michael Gough appears in 4 Batman movies.. What is his characters full name?-Alfred Pennyworth. Extra kudos for those that gave his entire title - Alfred Herbert Pennyworth - kudos, but no extra points I’m afraid. We only really required his first and last name - rather than just people answering ‘Alfred’.
19) In which comedy will you find this conversation?“…you’re a piece of sh*t”“I am not a piece of sh*t!” “Yeah, but you are a little bitch.” - BASEketball. A cracking comedy from the makers of South Park. This conversation is near the start when Matt Stone and Trey Parker let their friend ‘Little Bitch’ stay at their house (after he is fired).
20) In the book of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which character helps Harry to complete a task, but the role is replaced in the movie version by that of Neville Longbottom? - Dobby the House Elf. In the movie version, Professor Moody orders Neville to help Harry put some books away in the library. Harry has not yet discovered what he needs for his next task- where he has to enter the lake and breathe underwater for a full hour. Neville helps him by telling him of Gilly Weed- which will give Harry fish-like abilities. However in the original book version, Harry is awoken by Dobby the House Elf just minutes before the task is about to begin. Harry in a panic realises that he has failed, as he has not found out what he needs to breathe underwater. But Dobby hands Harry the Gilly Weed, after hearing Professor Moody talking to McGonagall, in the staffroom, about the weed. So it is Dobby who helps Harry originally, not Neville.

Master System has a Virtua Fighter game named Virtua Fighter Animation.
“The Master System version of Virtua Fighter Animation was only released in Brazil, where it was produced officially by Tec Toy. It lacks the viewing modes of the Game Gear version, and uses the English script from the Game Gear releases.”

Ok maybe I should have also emphasised that the game would need to have had a wide release across, at least, one full gaming region. For example if the game was released officially across the US, then it would have counted. But I think that as Virtua Fighter Animation for the Mastersystem was only released in Brazil, it doesn’t count.
It’s not like Virtua Fighter: Animation on the GameGear which was given a much wider release- where it was on sale in all PAL regions and Japan/Asia (though not sure about the US- though I believe it was).
Perhaps the answer I gave was slightly incorrect, I did state that the Mastersystem didn’t feature any Virtua Fighter titles. Perhaps I should have worded the question a little better. But I do stand by the question and answer - the version that was on the console clearly did not have a mainstream release.
-Sorry.

I actually thought the ‘odd console out’ was the Nintendo GBA because every other console was listed in chronological order other then that.
