Virtua Fighter 5 Reviews are in!
Posted by Ryan. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, Ryan, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Review Roundup, Virtua Fighter 5.

Virtua Fighter is one of Sega’s most popular series and we all new it would come out smelling of roses. Reviewers are all over it like it’s still fashionable to like Sega or something! Even without an online mode it still did very well! Still online mode for most of us would have been the icing on the cake but never mind. I’m sure Sega will come around and announce VF5 Evo with online place once we have all bought VF5….
So, Here are the Reviews in order of how smart the reviewers are:
GameSpy: 5/5
EGM: 9.7/10
C&VG: 9.1/10
GameZone: 8.9/10
IGN: 8.8/10
Worth Playing: 8.3/10
GameSpot: 8.1/10
Good news all round!

Online play is not going to happen any time soon for the VF series, considering many of the moves have input windows of only a few frames. Latency is a huge issue.

My problem with that excuse is that Hard Core players simply dont have to play the online game. No matter how you look at it the game would benifit from online play. If your a hard core player that wants perfect frame for frame fighting then play it offline if your a normal player like me online mode would have been a good addition.
I think the game has lost more sales for not having online mode, then if it did have online mode.

That’s not the point. The game can’t be done online without seriously compromising the integrity of the engine. With a game running at 60fps and input windows of only a few frames, we’re talking fractions of seconds. Fighting games, especially Virtua Fighter, are about extreme precision. You can’t do that with today’s online speeds, and that’s what the designers concluded.

I know this, I wasnt going to play it online, But there are ALOT of people who arent massive fighting game experts who want to be able to fight online.
I just think Sega are a bit of a cop out on this one.
Fighter pros don’t have to use online play, but casual gamers expect online play these days.

AM2 just doesn’t like Sony’s online plan it seems. Virtua Tennis 3 has no online on PS3 either, I wouldn’t be shocked if the 360 version does.

They should implement downloadable content though. We could finally have our console fighters up to date with the arcade version revisions.
